Seattle Pacific University Student Jon Meis
Electrical engineering student Jon Meis, who was a volunteer building monitor at Seattle Pacific University, was credited with stopping a school shooting on June 6, 2014.
Meis was working at Otto Miller Hall that morning when a man walked in with a shotgun. The man opened fire, killing one student and injuring three others. But as he was reloading his shotgun, Meis doused the man in pepper spray and tackled him to the ground.
Meis and other students held the suspect down until police arrived on the scene.
