A Day at ISC West: What We Saw
We stopped by the Genetec booth to learn about a new subscription model for its flagship unified security platform, Security Center. As Christian Morin, vice president of cloud services, explained, Security Center Subscription allows customers to receive the same local, on-premises version of Security Center and pay for it on a monthly or annual basis, as opposed to purchasing the entire system upfront. Morin cited a Gartner research report that projects by 2020 more than 80 percent of software vendors will change their business model from traditional license and maintenance to subscription, regardless of whether the software resides on-premises or in the cloud.
