Florida State University officials and Tallahassee police intervened with the investigations of the rape allegations against Jameis Winston, FSU’s quarterback.

An investigative report states that Winston’s attorney and university administrators had a “head start” on the case before it was handed to State Attorney Willie Meggs, reports YahooSports.

Meggs said that Winston’s attorney having access to the police reports was “a challenge in the way of a proper investigation from the state attorney.”

Winston did not face charges in the case due to a lack of evidence. However, FSU is under fire for the way it handled the situation and is a subject of a Title IX investigation.
