In 2020, young adults ages 18-25 had the highest prevalence of any mental illness at 30.6% compared to adults ages 26-49 (25.3%) and adults ages 50 and older (14.5%).
While the age group with the highest prevalence is the same as it was in 2017, only 25.8% of people ages 18-25 reported having a mental illness — nearly five percentage points less.
