A Richmond Public Schools employee was shot in the arm after three juveniles broke into an administrative building owned by the district Monday.
Police are still searching for the suspects, who somehow entered the facility even though the doors were secure.
The incident occurred just after 5 p.m. when the teens rushed into the building and shot a female employee.
Responding officers had to request breaching equipment to force entry through the building’s locked doors, reports wavy.com. The victim was sent to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Richmond Police Department is investigating how the teens were able to gain entry to the building.
The building is used primarily by the food and nutrition staff and no classes are taught there. Students do not use the building and were never in any danger.
But the crime has raised concerns about the building’s security. It was burglarized over the weekend just before the shooting.
“We want our staff to be safe,” Richmond Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Dana Bedden says. “We’ll be fully cooperating with the police force and be using any resources we have to solve this.”
Dr. Bedden also said the district will be changing the building’s security plan and has been working to move staff out of the building.
