The VideoEdge network video recorder (NVR) by American Dynamics, a Tyco Security Products company, has a true server-client architecture designed to manage video very efficiently and achieve superior performance, according to the company.
The NVR features many algorithms to achieve maximum read and write performance and works with a variety of intuitive clients to help customers manage surveillance in very active environments
The VideoEdge software utilizes a SUSE Linux operating system with JeOS (Just enough Operating System). Each NVR supports dual-streaming cameras, with the bundled server version supporting a total of 800Mbps of video throughput. The device enables multiple video streams for live, record, alarm bump, and metadata collection.
Using its victor unified client, the VideoEdge can display video simultaneously with a common feature set, no matter what the codec (H.264, ACC, MJPEG, MPEG-4); even mixing and matching technologies, according to the company.
