“On July 22, 2024, at approximately 1610, Security Officer Roberto Cazares responded to a situation involving an unresponsive individual that was located off property that was reported by a pedestrian that had seen the unresponsive individual. Upon arriving at the scene, Officer Cazares promptly assessed the situation and contacted his supervisor, Stewart Akeisha. Security Officer Roberto Cazares, then tried to wake her up by verbally speaking to the person, but the person was not responding. Stewart Akeisha and Lead Officer Renaldo Gadson (arrived shortly after) to assist the situation. Akeisha then advised Roberto Cazares to immediately call (911) to request immediate assistance. Roberto was then transferred to the paramedics, Security Officer Roberto provided further details of the situation to the paramedics who advised emergency responders would go to the scene however in the meantime, the paramedics advised the unresponsive person required cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Stewart Akeisha and Renaldo Gadson immediately sprung into action by assisting the unresponsive person from the bench to the ground(flat surface), and Renaldo Gadson immediately started giving compressions. Renaldo continued doing compressions until the arrival of paramedic number 10. Once the paramedics arrived they took control of the situation and continued the compressions and provided medical treatment and after a dose of Narcan which prompted the person to immediately become responsive. The person was then transferred to the emergency department, where she was declared fine.
Due to their outstanding performance, swift response, and teamwork during a life and death situation, I nominate Roberto Cazares, Stewart Akeisha, and Renaldo Gadson for Officer of the Year. Their actions saved a life and shows the vital role of security personnel in emergency situations.”
