Officer Talton effectively assisted in managing this risk by helping to contain the situation and ensuring that the family members were kept at a safe distance from the armed suspect. Additionally, after the suspect complied and disarmed, Officer Talton took the initiative to secure the handgun, clearing the chamber to render it safe.
